Newcastle Preschool teachers are a diverse group of well-trained early childhood educators.

As a group, Newcastle preschool teachers are a diverse assortment of individuals who love small children and have been specifically trained to teach Early Childhood Education skills to 3-5 year olds. Most of our teachers also have the real world experience of being mothers themselves.

Solid Backgrounds

Almost all Newcastle preschool teachers begin their association with the school by word-of-mouth referrals from other Newcastle teachers or parents of students. We seldom advertise for teachers. All teachers provide relevant history and references. References are checked and each teacher undergoes a Bureau of Criminal Identification background review through the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

Continuity and Commitment

All Newcastle preschool teachers are employed under an annual contract that commits them to teach the entire school year, from mid-August through mid-June. They are compensated based on merit. The pay scale weighs their formal education, tenure at the Newcastle School and performance on the job. The school typically employs 15-20 part time teachers during an average academic year. Newcastle teachers are very stable and reliable. Rarely do we have a teacher change during the school year. Newcastle teachers substitute for one another as needed. When there is an illness or relocation which facilitates a class change, we have enough skilled preschool teachers to manage the transition seamlessly.
